Somehow, even though it is cool to look at, Patuxi is just not as...in its element here in Laos. This rendition of the Arc de Triomphe has a lot of Buddhist elements to the architecture, and includes a sign inside that reads "Monster of Concrete" because the concrete to build it was donated by the United Sates. Apparently it was supposed to build a new airport, but I guess the Lao people wanted this more! I walked down a fairly paltry version of the tree lined streets of Paris to get to it - though I have to say that it wsa esier to get close to this tourist attraaction thn the real one in paris which is surrounded by most confusing round-about!
